Spotlight Painting: Women playing Golf
*Recently displayed at the Habitat for Humanity Annual Gala and Auction
This painting exemplifes our mission, of using this traditional art form and depict modern scenes. In this painting there is a women playing golf near a house as a way to honor all the work Habitat for Humanity does as well as their famous Golf Auctions.
Bhagavad Gita during Mahabharat
*Exhibited at ISW for a Spotlight Artist Award
it depicts a scene from the epic Mahabharat, in which during the war scene Krishna (in the blue) is reciting the Bhagavad Gita to Arjun who seems hesitant about fighting against his family.
Hanuman and Ramji
*Auctioned to Vision Aid for $500
The theme of this painting was Hanuman - god of the wind (in the back) shown behind Ram and Laxman which shows that Hanumanji's true role is behind Ram and acting as his protection.
Simple Afternoon
*Won the Congressional Art Award and displayed at the Capitol Hill
This is a painting depicting the simplicity of Indian traditional life, made during COVID-19 times as a contrast to the loneliness we saw around us. It shows three women of different ages: a mom, daughter, and grandmother all cooking amidst a lively town backdrop. The purples, yellows, and other vibrant colors add to this theme of happiness and togetherness.
Women in Paris
This painting shows a woman standing near the Eiffel Tower sipping tea outside of a window. It shows the wide expanse of this art form and how it can be used to depict modern scenes as well as mythological stories.
Trishul
The trishul is a weopon used by Lord Shiva in battle. The dumroo which is the two drums on either side of the trisul sounds "Om" when played which is a basis of language.
Dance in a temple (Made on fabric)
This painting shows two women performing Bharatnatyam dance in a temple. It was made on silk fabric using a paintbrush. The beauty of this dance and its silk like movements is reflected in the use of silk fabric and intricate detailing.
Ramji's Journey to Lanka
This painting is a scene from the epic Ramayana. In which Lord Rama has been banished to Lanka for 14 years. The scene above is before they are about to head out on their journey and the boatsman is washing his feet as a symbol of respect.
Krishna and Radha
This painting shows Lord Krishna and Radha sitting and playing the flute one of his favorite activities. They are surrounded by foliage and animals which represents their identity.
Ganesha
Lord Ganesha is the god of wisdom and in this painting he is seen to be surrounded by a variety of colors and patterns.
Lohri Festival
This painting depicts the Lohri Festival popular in the region of Punjab. This is a lively festival celebrating harvest with music, dancing, and a wide variety of food near a temple, such as the Golden Temple (above).
